Who is Eligible?
Anyone with an official GOLF Link handicap can enter.
IMPORTANT: The event is open to all players over the age of 18.
When do we play?
You can organise to play anytime in the round window with your opponent. Club events have three options; 1. Play head-to-head in a social round, 2. Play head to head in a competition round with no gimme shots, 3. Agree to play in a competition round seperately and a card match at the conclusion of the day. (must be played on the same day)
What is your refund policy?
Players are entitled to a full refund until the closing date. Post this date no players will receive a refund, however before the first round, a player may be submitted.
What if I cannot organise my round?
It is both player's responsibility to communicate regarding the playing of all matches. Failure to play by the final date of a round will result in a coin toss to decide the winner
In the event of a coin toss, no individual hole win points are allocated.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. ELIGIBILITY
1.1 All competitors must have a current GOLF Link handicap. Exemptions for competitors with current WHS-compliant handicaps must be made prior to entering any event and handicap certificates must be supplied at entry as well as at the beginning of each round.
1.2 All competitors must be current members of a golf club or registered social golf club
1.3 All competitors must be able to prove their identity by showing a valid form of photo identification if asked

2. COMPETITION
2.1 The UMP is a handicap matchplay tournament and all matches will be played using GOLF Link index without slope or rating applied.
2.2 Players will play low net matchplay. This involves the low marker in the match playing for scratch (0) and the high handicapper playing from their index minus the low marker index.
2.3 Player's handicaps will be locked at the beginning of each round. All players will play from this handicap index regardless of changes during the two-week round window. Competitors making the final all players will play from their daily handicap index.
2.3 Competitors are to mutually agree on a venue and the tees to be used for their match. Consultation with the venue may be required and competitors are asked to show proper etiquette and not use a tee set that is out of play at the venue.
2.3i If competitors agree to play at one competitors home course, the home players agrees to play 50% of the visitor green fee for their opponent.
2.4 All matches must gain a result if tied after 18 holes. Players are to play from the first hole in the playoff if available. If not available players are to select a hole by mutual agreement.

2.5 Format: The tournament will be played in a matchplay round robin format. Each player will compete against every other player in their group, and the player with the highest number of points at the end of the round robin will advance to the knockout stage. In club events you will be grouped into four (4) player pools to play the round robin event.

2.6 Groupings: Players will be grouped in groups of four, with each group randomly allocated via the tournament management system. If a group if left as a three during a hosted event a “Blind” player will be selected as random for the day and you will play against that player in a match. The same “Blind” player will be used across all groups that are three (3) player groups.

2.7 Tee Times for hosted events: Tee times will be scheduled for each group, and each group will play one 18-hole round. The leading four (4) players on points will qualify for the knockout to find the overall daily champion.

2.8 Matchplay Rules: Matches will be played using standard matchplay rules. Gimme or concessions are only allowed on the green if all other players in the group agree.

2.9 Scoring: Each player will receive ten (10) points for a win, five (5) points for a halved match, and zero (0) points for a loss. Each hole is worth two (2) points for a win, 1 (1) for a half, and zero (0) for a loss.

2.10 Tiebreakers: In the event of a tie in points at the end of the round-robin/group stage, tiebreakers will be used to determine the group winner. In a hosted day the best MATCH RESULT will determine the tiebreak. EG: Player A and B tie with 42 points. Player A won their best match 7&6 and Player B won their best match 3&2. Player A wins the tie break.

2.11 Advancement: The winner of each group will advance to the knockout stage. Hosted days will include a three-hole 4 person playoff with all players playing each other over three holes. A tie at the end will result in an NTP shootout.

2.12 Course Setup: The course will be set up to challenge players of all skill levels, with a mixture of tee placements and pin positions.

2.13 Local Rules: The tournament will follow the R&A rules of golf, with any local rules posted on the scorecard and communicated to the players prior to the start of the tournament. The tournament committee will determine any rulings and their decisions will be binding.

2.14 Etiquette: Players are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner throughout the tournament. Any violations of etiquette or rules may result in disqualification from the tournament.

2.15 Distance Measuring Devices: Are allowed. Slope and wind measuring devices are not allowed and if used will result in loss of hole where used or disqualification if used for the entire round. BUSHNELL devices are the recommended rangefinder and GPS for the Ultimate Matchplay Series.

3. RULES OF GOLF
3.1 The UMP will be played under the rules of golf as outlined by the R and A and can be found at https://www.randa.org/en/rog/the-rules-of-golf
3.2 Each round is also to be played using the local rules of the golf course
3.3 Competitors that breach local rules or the rules of golf will lose a hole for each breach of the rules.
3.4 If both competitors are found to blatantly ignore a rules breach then they may in extreme instances both be disqualified from the tournament and may not partake in any future rounds.

3.5 Players are permitted to use GPS and Rangefinders. Mobile phones are permitted for scoring purposes only. Players must not use a “SLOPE” feature for the gradient. Using SLOPE will result in the loss of each hole where the instance of SLOPE was in play.

4. PRIZES
4.1 Competitors will be eligible for random prizes during the round-robin competition. Rounds wins are not automatically entitled to prizes. All four players that qualify for the playoff win prizes.

4.2 Hosted events will see all group winners receive a prize.
​
4.3 The leading four (4) players from the overall points race will playoff for hosted event/club event prizes. All four players win a prize value.

5. SCORING
5.1 All players agree to score each round live through the GOLF GENIUS SOFTWARE mobile scoring app.
5.2 Handicaps will be live in the app as well as all draws and results.
5.3 Players failing to score live during their matches will automatically be withdrawn from any random prize draws.
6. WEATHER
6.1 If an event is affected by inclement weather resulting in the course being unplayable the tournament director may shorten the event to the amount of completed holes. If a shootout cannot occur then a putt-off may be used and/or other skill-based formats to award the top 4 places.
7. MEDIA CONSENT
7.1 By participating in UMP, players give consent for their name, picture, and any imagery to be used in communications, websites, social media, and printed materials.

7.2 A competitor must notify via email the tournament organiser if they wish to not give their consent.
8. USAGE OF COMPETITOR CONTACT DETAILS

8.1 By entering the UMP you consent to receive SMS and/or email communications from UMP. These updates will be related to the tournament and progress in the tournament.
